Who is MMOG HSCYO for?
The MMOG HSCYO is a Roman Catholic, faith-based youth organization sponsored by the Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen NJ. While many of our members are parishioners of MMOG, you do not have to be a parishioner or Catholic to join. The only requirement to join is that you are a student in High School and that you respect the members of the group and our Catholic faith. To join the MMOG HSCYO click on the “apply for Membership” tab on this site.
Why is there a HSCYO?
There are many reasons why our group exists. Our former revered Pastor, Monsignor Liam Minogue whose soul now rests with God, believed that our high school aged parishioners need a way to stay connected with the Church after receiving the sacrament of confirmation. Monsignor Liam also believed that teens need a way to continue their spiritual development and prepare themselves for the challenges of young adulthood. We believe that sometimes teens need a place of their own to nurture their growth and development and that’s why we’re here.
How does HSCYO exist?
HSCYO exists most importantly with the involvement and support of the kids who are its members. Without the kids there is no group!!! The adult Advisory Board (see the advisory board tab in this site) helps advise, guide and facilitate the group along with the support, direction and funding from the Parish of Mary Mother of God and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen NJ.
